Just got help from Las Cruces and really enjoyed your town. Just curious, is there any gay bars or places where gay people meet?

I'm wondering if gay bars are perhaps more of a need in communities that are intolerant of alternative lifestyles. Since Santa Fe is, for the most part, a live-and-let-live town which embraces gays and straights equally (in my experience and in my talks with male lover friends), the need for strictly gay bars may not be an important factor for gays thinking of moving here.

I realize that gay bars are good for meeting/networking/hooking up with new friends, just like unbent bars are, but in an open, tolerant town all venues are places where such social interactions can occur. I, for one, would hate to dwell in a place that had it's bars designated as male lover, straight, hispanic, anglo, black, indian - although I've unfortunately lived in places that did (but no more!).
