Love Island's Curtis Pritchard believes show will include same-sex attracted contestants in the future after bosses said it will always be a 'straight' series

For nearly a decade, viewers have watched as men and women have 'coupled up' and inevitably split on the emotional rollercoaster of Cherish Island.

But, it seems that producers might be put to move away from the standard cast of straight twenty-somethings who typically populate the Spanish villa, by including gay singletons for the first time.

Speaking on the Mail's Unbent to the Comments! Podcast, former islander Curtis Pritchard, 28, said he believes a more inclusive series is finally on the horizon.

'Love Island is going to I believe,' he said when asked by hosts Archie Manners and Josh Pieters about whether the show would be including gay or pansexual contestants in the future or even a 'throuple' – the term for a three-way couple.

Producers had previously shut down speculation that gay islanders would appear, saying that the 'format' didn't lend itself to their inclusion.

In proof, he returned to the franchise in 2023 to receive part in Like Island Games (which we're sure has nothing to perform with the proof that it was filmed in Fiji) AND he was back in the villa for All Stars 2025.

Maura Higgins talks Curtis Pritchard's sexuality

Love Island's Maura Higgins has said she wishes her ex Curtis Pritchard would just, 'be honest,' about his sexuality.

The dancer previously admitted to The Sun that he would never rule out a same sex relationship.

When asked how he identifies, he said, 'You can never put a label on anything.'

In a recent interview with The Sun's Fabulous, Maura admitted this frustrated her a lot.

She said, 'I just feel like... be honest. He never says he’s straight, he never says he’s gay.'

'I just feel like, whatever it is just be honest and tell it.'

Maura said whenever she confronted him about it, 'He said he was straight.'

'So he said that to me, but he didn’t say that in universal. I find that quite strange.'

'Just be honest. Say what you said to me, you know?'

Meanwhile, Maura also spoke about how she felt when she saw him with the woman he was accused of cheating on her with.

The Reaction To Curtis Pritchard ‘Coming Out’ Is Not Okay

This week, in an interview with The Sun, Love Island’s Curtis Pritchardwas asked about his sexuality after weeks of speculation ran rampant online. ‘I’ve been with women and I’m with a woman now. You can never place a label on anything,’ he told the publication, ‘It’s a cliché to say, but adore is blind. I can never ever say what will happen in the future… I wouldn’t rule anything out.’

Subsequently, despite explicitly saying he would never label himself, he has been labelled ‘bisexual’ by the media, and ‘gay’ by online commentators. Media outlets possess scoured the internet for pictures of him with renowned men, implied Maura is leaving him because of his sexuality and on Good Morning Britain this morning he was essentially interrogated as interviewers badgered him to verify whether he is or isn't bisexual person (skip to four minutes in the below video if you want to watch the uncomfortable questioning for yourself). Unsurprisingly, on social media, the commentary only gets worse.

But let’s get one thing straight (pun unintended): Curtis Pritchard has not ‘come out’ as bi-curious, gay, queer or any other LGBT+ term. What he ha
