Destin Conrad On Imposter Syndrome, Black Gender non-conforming Representation in R&B And His Debut Album

Most of Gen Z met Destin Conrad, 24, over a decade ago on Vine, where he shared hilarious clips that frequently intersected with harmony. In one classic clip, for instance, he freestyled “To the- to the- to, to the left!” over a lunch table hit.

Music has remained at the center of the Tampa native’s innovative output in the years since, with his debut EP, Colorway, arriving in 2021. The year prior, he wrote several songs on Kehlani’s It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, setting the foundation for his slow-burning ascent in the R&B earth. His ethereal mélange of hazy acoustic guitars, explicitly Ebony and queer lyrics and soulful, emotional vocal performance instantly spun early hits out of cuts like “In the Air,” which he recently performed as a surprise guest at the first Brooklyn show of FLO’s Access All Areas Tour.

Across a slew of post-Colorway EPs – including Satin (2022), Submissive (2023) and Submissive 2 (2024) – Conrad continued honing his sound, slowly crafting a singular road in t

Something To Document Home About: Destin Conrad Interviewed

Destin Conrad is in a love affair with London. The 24 year elderly, Tampa-born R&B singer/songwriter says his astrocartography lines go through the city, and “even when the weather is terrible”, he feels nice here. For us Londoners, we comprehend how important that optimistic attitude is, and it’s a notable quality of Conrad. Ironically, we’re chatting on the hottest day of the year.

Since releasing his first EP ‘COLORWAY‘ during the pandemic in 2021, Conrad has been a fresh meet for R&B, and for new harmony in general. Having just dropped his debut album, ‘LOVE ON DIGITAL‘ after four EPs, he’s only getting started. The project is as self-aware as it is reflective of other people’s experiences, expertly sharing his own vulnerabilities, while keeping it playful and most importantly, resonating with a growing audience.

Growing up in Tampa, Conrad is part of the “Florida renaissance”, most notably led by Doechii, and including fellow R&B artist SAILORR from Jacksonville, “I feel like people forget Florida

DESTIN CONRAD knows how to make a moment touch intimate, even when his music is playing through the loudest of speakers. Originally from Tampa, FL, Destin recently made his fans very happy by dropping his debut album LOVE ON DIGITAL – a hypnotic, synth-soaked exploration of love, lust, and self-preservation in the age of disconnection. It’s fun. It’s soulful. And above all, it’s unapologetically queer.

As the latest cover star for YAMS Magazine, DESTIN CONRAD isn’t just showcasing his artistry – he’s claiming cosmos. LOVE ON DIGITAL feels like a diary entry sent via AirDrop. A text sent with concealed ink. It’s tender, uncooked, and unmistakably modern. “It’s my ode to the digital era of R&B. It’s also kind of a timestamp on a long-distance situationship I had where we spent a lot of time talking digitally. So there’s a lot of talk about that on the album.”

With its 15 tracks recorded across Tulum, London, New York, and Los Angeles, Destin floats between yearning and detachment, wrapping vulnerability in silky smooth melodies and glitchy movie that feels like scrolling through emotions at 2 AM on a summer night.

Peach PRC’s world is pink, pop-y, and maybe “Perfect For You.” The Aussie singer-songwriter’s single of that name interpolates Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind,” inspired by the times Peach and her girlfriend shared their headphones to eavesdrop to the 2006 hit. After building up a fanbase on TikTok, Peach dropped her debut EP Manic Dream Pixie, in 2023, showcasing her campy sensibility but serious songcraft. Inspired by early 2000s millennium pop, fans can plunge right into Peach’s dreamy tunes about the girl she loves.
