In a new interview with Variety, the actress said that she feels "very neutral" about her gender and sexuality.
Explaining "I don't feel straight and I don't feel gay," Cyrus, who identifies as "pansexual," added that for a long time, she was confused about what that meant.
"My whole life, I didn’t understand my hold gender and my hold sexuality. I always hated the word 'bisexual,' because that’s even putting me in a box. I don’t ever think about someone being a young man or someone being a girl," she said. "My eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade. My first connection in my life was with a chick."

In a fresh TikTok video, the singer reflects on a photo of herself, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Emily Osment all walking together down a street. In the picture, Cyrus dons a casual ensemble — a tee, sweater and cargo pants — while her pals are dressed to the nines in red carpet attire.
“This picture has grow a meme where it says, ‘Be the Miley of your friend group,’” the 30-year-old explained and added the same caption to her post.
Cyrus went on to joke about the evidence that she was surrounded by lovely women in the now iconic snapshot.
