TRAITOR: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has blood on his hands
There are a lot of conversations in the LGBTI community about Prides becoming “too commercial,” but what about grassroots, leftist radical Prides? Well, the idea of community-organized, grassroots Prides is amazing, but unfortunately, it is very human to make mistakes.
While big LGBTI Prides that are organized with aid from businesses are trying to be inclusive, grassroots Prides have sometimes gone too far in their attempts to create an “edgy,” rebellious atmosphere. Some slogans that have been used at “independent” Prides create more problems than they solve, making these events non inclusive and unacceptable for a big part of the LGBTI community.
I believe in intersectionality. I was one of the very few activists in Russia who began writing and speaking about the need for intersectional approaches in the LGBTI community — speaking up for neurodivergent, disabled, non-white, Muslim, and Jewish LGBTI people. In the U.K., I’m part of various groups supporting LGBTI refugees.
And this is why I see that some contemporary attempts by Western LGBTI activists to be mindful of different forms of oppression have actually
Senate confirms gay Treasury secretary nominee Scott Bessent
A former Treasury Department employee who led the agency’s LGBTQ employee resource group says the removal of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) from its discrimination complaint forms was merely a formalization of existing policy shifts that had already taken hold accompanying the second inauguration of President Donald Trump and his appointment of Scott Bessent — who is gay — to lead the agency.
Christen Boas Hayes, who served on the policy team at Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) from 2020 until March of this year, told the Washington Blade during a mobile interview last week that the agency had already stopped processing internal Matching Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaints on the basis of anti-LGBTQ discrimination.
“So the way that the forms are changing is a procedural recognition of something that’s already happening,” said Hayes. “Internally, from speaking to two EEO staff members, the changes are already taking place from an EEO perspective on what kind of cases will be create to have the basis for a complaint.”
The move, they said, comes am
Trump’s War on Gay, Lesbian, and Trans People
When Donald Trump ran for president last year, he signaled that he would not be far-right on social issues. He tried to defuse the issue of abortion rights in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade by saying that it was now up to the states, as if this preserved rights. He refused to say whether he personally opposed abortion.
And on LGBTQ rights, the Republican platform, at Trump’s request, did not recommend ending marriage equality. All of this was a classic Trump feint.
Trump’s administration has worked with state officials on vigilante laws intended to punish people who seek reproductive concern out of state. He has redoubled the attempt to disapprove federal funds to Planned Parenthood. Trump’s appointees keep trying to ban medications that induce abortion, the safest and most widespread method.

And the charge on gay and trans people keeps escalating. On Inauguration Afternoon, Trump declared that “only two genders,” male and female, would be commended going forward by the federal government. He signed an executive order to that e
